Baltit Fort

Near the capital of Hunza, Karimabad, the seven-hundred-year-old Baltit Fort is one of the Hunza's ancient monuments. It was founded in the 8th century and been on the UNESCO World Heritage status and recognized for excellence in conservation since 2004.

History of the Baltit Fort:

It is one of the landmarks of Hunza, like a fairy tale; it is built on huge legs and wooden windows overlooking the valley. Its major renovation was done in the 16th century when the Mir of Hunza married the princes of Baltistan. The architecture of Baltit Fort is influenced by the Tibetan or Ladakhi architecture and also has some likeness to the Potala Palace in Lhasa.
