Khalti lake

Khalti Lake is the source of fresh, natural water and is a natural habitat of trout. The beautiful Lake flows in Khalti village, in the tehsil of Punial, the westernmost part of the Gilgit–Baltistan region and northernmost territory of Pakistan.

The water in Khalti Lake is as clean as a mirror, and it is freezing even in summers. The Lake is filled by the melting water coming from the surrounding glaciers in the area. The water of the Lake gets frozen in winter, and one can easily walk on it. This frozen Lake becomes a playground for local children in winter. The maximum deepness of the Lake is 80 ft. It is spread over an area of 40 ha or 98.8422 acres. The Lake is a true definition of nature.
