Rakaposhi is a mountain in the Karakoram range in the Gilgit-Baltistan It is situated in the middle of the Nagar and Bagrote valleys and danyor, approximately 100 km north of the capital city Gilgit of Pakistani Province Gilgit Baltistan. Rakaposhi means "snow-covered" in the local language.

Rakaposhi is a vast mountain, nearly 20 km from east to west, and is the only peak on Earth that drops directly, uninterrupted, for almost 6000 m from the top to the base.
