Tirich Mir

Tirich Mir is located in Chitral District of Pakistan the highest mountain of the Hindu Kush range, and the highest peak in the world outside of the Himalayas-Karakoram range, The mountain was first to ascend on 21 July 1950 by a Norwegian voyage with the team of these climbers, Arne Næss, P. Kvernberg, H. Berg, and Tony Streather. Tirich Mir overlooks Chitral town and can easily be seen from the main bazaar area.

The last village in Chitral before coming to Tirich Mir is called the town of Tirich. It is situated in Mulkow town. The people of this town used to speak the Khowar language. The mostly young male residents are available for hire as porters and tourist guides and will lead trekkers partway up the mountain, but there is a point beyond which they will not go.
